Why use a new generation database?
Practically all herd software uses a database type called Desktop (Paradox,
Dbase, MSAccess, binary, ...). For years now these databases have been technologically
obsolete due to their limited performance, integrity problems, they are incapable
of managing a large volume of information, and some do not allow concurrent
use on networks.
On the other end of the spectrum, we have Client/Server databases, widely used
in industrial and corporate environments. Oracle, SQL Server or Interbase are
a few examples of this type of database. Porcitec Studio uses Client/Server
technology for all processes.
Would you like to see how this works for yourself?
• Ask one of our competitors to give you a test database with the records
of 5000 females (both active and inactive) and their corresponding histories.
Try, if you can, to navigate through the program and preview statistic reports.
Porcitec can manage hundreds of thousands of females without a snag.
• If they have a network, try to modify 2 female records in 2 different
computers at the same time. Porcitec gives you network access to dozens of concurrent
users, allows you to edit records, print reports and easily carry out simultaneous
operations of any kind.
• If your program allows database consultation, try to solve the following
queries:
1) Average and ending inventory of Genetics X females, between 2 dates
2) Pre-weaning mortality of parity 1 females purchased from a certain supplier,
between 2 dates
3) Reproductive performance of sows grouped together in the gestational phase.
The database used in Porcitec Studio provides you with excellent multi-user
capability and high performance, combined with optimal data extraction capacity.
