Import milk data from Microsoft Excel

You can import milk data from a Microsoft Excel spread sheet to Ovitec.

 

1.First you must load your data in Excel. See Using MS Excel to prepare data.
2.In MS Excel, you should the following columns:
Farm Id (empty means all farms, an Id filter by the farm Id, in Options | Benchmarking)
Date
Animal Id
Milk
Fat
Protein

 

3.Click File, Save As.
4.In Save As Type, select CSV (commas separated variables) (*.csv).
5.Enter a file name and click Save.
6.The file generated is text type, can be modified with any editor like Notepad or similar. At this point you can open it to see its contents. It should look something like this:

FARM1;01/12/02;230;20.4;3.78;3.44,199
FARM1;01/12/02;244;30.3;3.68;3.12;281
IOWA;01/12/02;BLACK;22.1;3.16;369

 

In this example, the first line contains this data: farm=FARM1, date=1/12/02, cow=230, milk=20.4, fat=3.78, protein=3.44, scc=199.

 

7.In Vaquitec, click Menu and then Import Milk Data.
8.Select the Milk CSV filter.
9.Select the file you created before from Excel and click Ok.
10.Go to Data Entry and select Milk. The milk data should appear in the entry form.
11.Click Process Sheet to process the milk information.
